About the role

• We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Shopify Lead Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Shopify Lead Developer, you will play a crucial role in driving the success of our e-commerce platform by leveraging your expertise in Shopify development and leading a team of offshore developers. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, customize, and maintain our Shopify-based online stores globally.

You will play a pivotal role in consolidating our existing Shopify themes into a streamlined and cohesive set, while spearheading the rewriting of our websites from the ground up. This initiative aims to enhance site performance, speed, and overall user experience whilst implementing a scalable development framework that ensure we can rapidly scale to match growth demands.

 

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of developers to ensure efficient delivery of Shopify projects, setting goals, providing guidance, and fostering a collaborative environment.

• Architect, design, develop, customize, and maintain Shopify-based e-commerce websites, themes, and applications according to business requirements and best practices.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including designers, marketers, and project managers, to translate business objectives into effective Shopify solutions.

• Customize and extend the functionality of Shopify through app integrations, API development, and third-party platform integrations.

• Optimize website performance, ensuring fast page load times, smooth user experience, and mobile responsiveness.

• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and security guidelines.

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Shopify functionality, integrations, and performance.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide technical recommendations, and deliver innovative solutions aligned with business goals.

• Implement scalable technology solutions and release management standards.

What you bring to the table

• Proven experience as a Shopify Developer, with a track record of successfully delivering Shopify projects and leading a development team.

• Strong expertise in Shopify development, including theme customization, app development, and API integrations.

• Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Liquid templating language.

• Proficiency in Shopify Plus, Shopify APIs, Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and Node.js.

• Experience with front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js) and version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Solid understanding of e-commerce principles and best practices, including payment gateways, shipping methods, and customer authentication.

• Familiarity with SEO best practices and website optimization techniques.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and debug complex issues.

• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

• Detail-oriented mindset, with a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.

• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.

• Deep knowledge of front-end performance metrics, strategies, and ecosystem.

• Experience working with international clients and multi-currency, multi-language Shopify stores.

• Strong organizational skills with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.

• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.

• Ability to scope, estimate, and deliver projects on time and within budget.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive mindset.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment and to align working hours to Eastern Time Zone for optimal client and team collaboration.
